Weekend Playlist

Keith prepping CDs for a Ross weekend

As a gift to family, friends, and the world that’s getting to know Keith more, I thought I’d shared a music playlist (which were often handwritten lists—not always an official “playlist” on a player of some type, but on CDs or vinyl pre-stacked and organized) that he put together for one of his infamous weekends with his college friend, Ross, in 2018. Those two made a weekend of hiking around whichever town they were in, going to bookstores & shops, having lunch, going to parks, riding the transit train, etc. In earlier years “hiking” was the right word, but in later years Keith’s body resisted and he slowed physically, but he didn’t let that stop them from their weekends of returning to their college years temporarily. Eventually they’d come back to the house where I’d round up the pets (when we had some) and move to the opposite end of the house from where Keith & Ross would start their evening of socializing, drinking, listening to loud music, and having what were some very mixed subject conversations (some deep, a lot less deep).

This particular playlist is a group of songs that when it was Keith’s turn to play a couple of songs in a row, he’d pick from. This is not the order they were played. He always snuck a few songs into the night that he knew I liked because he knew I could hear what they were playing and I would know when one of those songs came on it was for me. Bless him. It might not have fully made up for putting me through another Ross weekend, but it definitely helped remind me that even when he was in obnoxious college Keith mode that he loved me. It was endearing.

Try and guess a few of the songs on this list that were for me and drop them in a comment below.
